Another Solid Week for Hamilton

21 04 2009

We always like to keep an eye on our John Deere Classic stalwarts – players who compete in the tournament year-in-and-year-out – especially if they’re major championship winners, such as Todd Hamilton.

Todd’s a native of the Galesburg area and his mom still lives in the Quad Cities. Even though Todd spent much of his career playing tournaments in Asia, we still consider him a “local.”

Truth be told, Todd has struggled since he won the 2004 British Open at Royal Troon. But, lately, Todd has picked up his game.

He tied for 15th at The Masters, thereby earning the right to return to Augusta next year (the top 16 and ties from the previous year’s tournament get a spot). Last week, he finished T-4 at Hilton Head, his best finish since the ’04 Open Championship.

Right now, Todd is 68th on the money list with $418,090 in official earnings. We look forward to seeing him at the John Deere Classic in July. Meanwhile, we’re rooting for him.
